Fortunately for the rest of us, Iran is finally putting women in their place
On September 7, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Duane
….
Iran recently whipped a woman 99 times for having her face published without being covered up. Most of us agree that this is a very good thing because without things like this happening, women might actually start to believe they are equal and should have the same rights as men. I see no negatives in this. Although I should probably point out that her confession may have been based on torture, and as irrelevant as it probably is, I should also probably point out that the picture of her wasn’t actually her. That was a mistake from the newspaper when they said it was her. It was actually somebody else. But that shouldn’t take away from the fact that Iran is doing a good thing by going after this evil woman for these evil deeds that she, um, didn’t do, and um, probably never would have ever done.
But if it’s any consolation, Iran is planning to stone her to death very soon. So that should take care of all of those ambiguities.
And that’s why I think this is an excellent thing. I mean, for too long women have been going way out of their way to get out of the kitchen and usurp equal rights back from men who have rightfully maintained strict control over such things. I mean, as the Louis Brandeis Brief taught us, women are too emotionally disturbed to be able to handle their own affairs, and are obviously weaker than men in all ways that are important. I mean, they made the guy a Supreme Court justice, so he must have been onto something, right?
Anyway, the point is that Iran is doing what the rest of the world is too scared to do: Putting women in their place. I mean, I’d bet that Sarah Palin would agree with me, and she’s theoretically a woman, right? I mean, do I need more facts than that?
YES i STRONGLY BELIEVE YOU NEED TO SUBSTANTIATE YOUR SEXIST, BIGOT, CHAUVINIST, HORRENDOUS, ABYSMAL, DISGUSTING HORRIFIC VIEWS YOU DARE TO SPREAD FOR THE PUBLIC TO “SOMEWHAT GRATIFICALLY ACCEPT IN YOUR SAKE”
FIRSTLY I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF A MAN…LET ALONE HUMAN SPECIE CAN EXPRESS SUCH A VIEW WHOLEHEARTEDLY AND WITH SUCH PUTRID CONFIDENCe WITHOUT SECOND GUESSING THEIR OWN HUMANITY!
HERE ARE NATIONS STRUGGLING WITH WOUNDED HANDS IN ATTEMPTS TO OVERCOME PAST OPPRESSION TO WOMEN AND IN THE MEANWHILE PESSIMISTS LIKE YOU OVERLOOK THE FEMALE RACE AND PRIVE OVER THEIR SUFFERING.
hERE WE ARE WITH ICONIC WOMEN IN OUR HISTORY NAMELY QUEEN VICTORIA, FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE, MARIE CURIE, ROSA LUXEMBERG, ELEANOR ROSENVELT AND THE LIST GOES ON MY BROTHER…TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THOSE WOMEN WHO’VE PROBABLY ACCOMPLISHED MORE IN THEIR LIFETIME THEN YOU OR YOUR ANCESTORS EVER DID IN DOUBLE THEIRS….
THEN TELL ME ONCE MORE THAT YOU DON’T NEED MORE FACTS TO SUBSTANTIATE YOUR SICKENING VIEWS…..[SIS]
nEXT TIME DO YOUR RESEARCH, bOY!
Not really sure how to say this, but your response is a screed against a sarcastic post that is essentially saying the exact same thing as the intent of the original post. My post was a criticism of Iranian people for punishing a woman for her actions, not a congratulation of their awful actions. Sarcasm is sometimes a misunderstood tool, but fortunately the numbers of people who reposted that original post and commented on it understanding its original intent at least mean that not everyone missed the point.
I’m sorry you interpreted it wrongly. But no, I’m not going to apologize for taking the Iranian government to task for horrific actions brought against a woman for trying to live her life with a semblance of freedom and self-determination.
I should also point out that only about the first half of the article was included by you (which makes me wonder if you read this somewhere else that decided to print only half of it for some nefarious purpose). The second half of it is where it all comes together, essentially revealing the “punch line” of this not being a serious take but complete sarcasm. The whole second half goes through and points out what’s wrong with Iran, its gender politics and what that country needs to do in order to improve relations with the rest of the civilized world.
